Each project I provide location scouting for is different. One day I'm looking for 'a modern home nestled among the saguaros (cactus) with stunning desert views', the next day I need to present options for 'a performance road that curves along a cliffside' or 'runs like a roller-coaster through a surreal landscape'.
I always wanted to scout for a Marlboro shooter, someone who meant to come Out West and make pictures in the big sky, high plains country of cowboy artists and German tourists' imaginations. Never happened.
But then one day I got a campaign brief to bid on. The best way for the agency to describe what they really were after was 'We are looking for Marlboro Country'.
